Dorset ADHD is a fully constituted family support group

As parents we all sometimes need a little support in caring for our children or information on how to support them when we are struggling to cope as parent carers. Caring for many families caring for a family member with ADHD the support needs may be greater.

If anyone tells you, dealing with a child with special needs is easy, then take little notice. Dealing with children who present complex learning patterns or challenging behaviour will stretch you to your very limits personally and professionally

We as parents can only do the best for our children, we should not be judged on our child's diagnosis or the treatment our children receive. We take the expert advice from professionals within health who have the medical knowledge and expertise to help our child or family member make the right decision.

The Dorset ADHD Support Group was first set up in a parents lounge and with founder members knowledge and understanding of the needs to support families living with ADHD the group soon became too big in which to continue in the lounge of a parents family home.

As the group numbers attending meetings expanded, so did the work of the volunteers. The Groups Constitution was adopted and we became a registered charity in 1998.
